Ideally, users should register with an email address that they can access freely so they can process a password reset request. If this is not possible, admins can take steps to assist other users with password changes.
Admin Resolution: Reset Password
If you have permission to Edit Admin/ Student accounts, you can reset the user's password manually. This can be helpful when the student has become confused or frustrated by their own password reset attempts. This process will also clear an account blocked too many incorrect login attempts.
The new password you set will be the student's new and only temporary password. For security, the student still must set their own password when they log in.
Follow these steps to manually reset a user's password:
1. Login to EdReady and click Manage Account from your dashboard
| ||
| 2. The Groups tab will open by default. Depending on the type of user, click on the Students or Admins tab at the top of the page | ||
3. Find the user you want to update in the table (it may be helpful to use the Filter/ Sort capabilities. 4. Click the Edit button ( | ||
5. Click the Change Password button and the on-screen display will update. 6. Enter the temporary password this user will use in the Password and Confirm Password textboxes. 7. Click the Save button
| ||
You must manually share the chosen password with the user. They will also be automatically notified by email as to what their new temporary password is, but if they cannot access their email, you will need to inform them of the temporary password.
The password is case sensitive, so be sure to share it exactly as it was entered. When they next login, they will need to replace the temporary password you provide with their own secure password.
