Password Reset Email/Text Not Received
If you did not receive the password reset message with your temporary password, check the following:
- Password resets are a two-step process. Be sure that you click the button on the second screen to have the temporary password sent to you.
- If you did both steps, check your inbox, spam, and any other categories that your email may be sorted into.
- Be sure you are using the exact same email and checking the inbox for the email address you used when you set up your account. Password resets can only be sent to the address on file.
The following can help you locate the email when you do a search in your inbox.
From: noreply@edready.org
Subject: Reset Password Instructions
If you are unable to locate the password email that we sent you, you may contact us by using the "Help" button at the bottom of the screen. We can supply you with the contents of the message, including the temporary password. Be sure to send your message from the same email address that you used when you created your account.
Password Reset Has Already Been Sent
The onscreen message says:
Your password reset email has already been sent. You must wait 24 hours after the initial request to make a new request.
Cause: You requested a password reset within the past 24 hours.
This limitation is in place to prevent the confusion that results from requesting too many overriding password resets in a short period of time.
Solution: Password reset emails are sent immediately. They cannot be sent to a different email address than the one we have on file for you.
If you cannot locate the email in your inbox, see the suggestions above.
When 24 hours have elapsed since your email was originally sent, you may request another temporary password.
Password Not Recognized
The onscreen message says:
We did not recognize that password. You have X attempts left. When you have no more attempts available, your account will be locked for one hour. Reset your password
Cause: What you (or your browser) entered into the password field does not match what our system has in the database.
Solution: Reset your password before you get locked out.
If you use all of the attempts, you WILL be locked out for one hour. This is to prevent hackers from accessing the system and blocking real students from doing their work.
Do not keep guessing. Use the link to reset your password BEFORE you get locked out.
Your instructor/admin can break the lockout by creating a new temporary password for you. Then you will be forced to reset your password. Be sure to ask for the temporary password that they created for you. It will not be sent by email.
No one can see your password, not EdReady staff and not your instructor, so we cannot tell you whether you are typing it correctly or not. If the system does not recognize what you are typing, then a password reset is the only option.
If you are certain that you know your password, check the following:
- Passwords are case-sensitive.
- They cannot be just letters or just numbers.
- They typically include both upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.
- If you asked your teacher or admin for help with your password, they might have set a new temporary password for you. Ask them what the temporary password is so that you can get into your account.
- Your browser may be auto-filling the wrong password. Check your browser's instructions for help if you want to see what your browser is trying to use or correct it.
Your Account Is Locked
The onscreen message says:
You have provided an incorrect password too many times and your account is now locked. It will automatically unlock after one hour.
Cause: You exceeded the allowed number of password attempts.
This limit is set to prevent hackers from accessing the system and blocking real students from doing their work.
Solution:
- Wait until the hour has elapsed and try again.
- Ask your teacher or admin to do a password reset for you. They can set a temporary password that you can use to log into your account. You will then be forced to set a new password.
- Do not be too attached to your old password. Passwords can and should change often for security.
